Frankfort

Frankfort Farmers Market
When: July 25th from 9 am to 1 pm
Where: Open Space Park
What: An assortment of area growers and crafters sell their wares in a traditional farmers market setting. A variety of locally grown produce, meats and hand-crafted food products will be available for purchase. The market also offers gluten-free foods, along with herbal soaps and salves.

Frankfort Street Sale
When: July 25th, starting at 9 am.
Where: Downtown Frankfort
What: Downtown businesses host a special sale. Discounted and special items are featured in special displays on the city streets.

Concert in the Park, feat Cherri and the Violators
When: July 24th at 7 pm
Where: Mineral Springs Park
What: Rock and Blues band, Cherri and the Violators put on a free show in Frankfort’s Mineral Springs Park. Bring a blanket or a chair and enjoy some music on picturesque Betsie Bay.

Beulah

Music in the Park feat Ryan Harcourt
When: July 23rd at 7 pm
Where: Beulah Park
What: Free concert in Beulah Park, featuring Ryan Harcourt. Enjoy some classic rock and a few oldies in sight of beautiful Crystal Lake.

Thompsonville

Michigan Legacy Art Park Summer Series 2009, feat Tumbao Bravo
When: July 24th at 7 pm
Where: Crystal Mountain Spa and Resort
What: Five-piece Cuban jazz band, featuring the sounds of many different instruments will be performing at Legacy Art Park.

Arcadia

Arcadia Daze
When: July 24th and 25th, with events starting at 4 pm Fri and ending 5 pm Sun.
Where: Arcadia

Manistee

Manistee Salmon Splash 2009
When: July 21st through the 26th,
Where: Manistee
What: Catch the weekend portion of the week-long Salmon Splash fishing tournament. Anglers from across the state (and beyond) compete in a variety of events, all in hopes of wining cash prizes and accumulating points for the Tournament Trail series of tournaments. Manistee hosts a variety of events for spectators as well, including a sand castle contest, kid’s fishing carnivals on the historic S.S. Milwaukee, refreshments and entertainment. Nestled on the river as if it grew there, the late artists world-renowned studio and shop is a must-see for anyone visiting the area. Kids are fascinated to watch the paper being printed on old time Heidelberg presses, or watching the wildlife that comes right up to the back doors.

Thompsonville

Summer Sounds 209 series at Michigan Legacy Art Park, feat David Chow and the Lookout CatsWhen: July 17th at 6:30 pm
Where: Legacy Art Park at Crystal Mountain Spa and Resort
What: David Chown and the Lookout Cats perform a range of styles from jazz to rock. Concert will be held at the Jessie Frohlich Amphitheater. Admission is $8 for adults and $5 for children. A $20 family price is also offered.

Frankfort

Concert in the Park featuring Steven D & the Keys
When: July 17th at 7 pm
Where: Mineral Springs Park
What: Free concert featuring Steven D & the Keys

Farmers Market
When: July 18th, from 9 am to 1 pm
Where: Open Space Park
What: Local food producers from the surrounding counties bring their wares to sell in a traditional market setting. Goods range from produce to baked goods and other hand-crafted food items. Locally raised meats are also sold, including pork chops, bacon and emu. Soaps and herbal salves are also available.

Port City Run
When: July 18th. Registration starts at 8 am and the race/walk begins at 8:30 am.
Where: Open Space Park
What: Annual 5k race and fun run/walk along the picturesque Betsie Valley Trail along Betsie Bay. Proceeds go to the Frankfort Elberta Area High School track team and the Betsie Valley Trail.

Elberta

19th Annual Elberta Arts and Crafts Fair
When: July 18th
Where: Waterfront Park
What: An arts and crafts fair, featuring artists from across the state.

Empire (and elsewhere)

Free Weekend at Sleeping Bear Dunes & Other National Parks
When: July 18th and 19th.
Where: All national parks across the country
What: Entry fees will be waived at all national parks, courtesy of the National Park Service.

Kaleva

Kaleva Days
When July 17th through the 19th.
Where: Kaleva
