Point Betsie Lighthouse
The Point Betsie Lighthouse is Benzie County's most famous landmark. It is located on Lake Michigan shore just south of Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore and just north of Frankfort, Michigan.
Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore
On the northwestern shore of Michigan's Lower Peninsula, in Leelanau and Benzie Counties, lies the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. The Sleeping Bear is an area unlike any other, over 50,000 acres along Lake Michigan replete with hills and forests of birch, pine, beech and maple. The Lakeshore encompasses numerous small lakes and rivers (perfect for fishing), sugar sand beaches and, of course, the massive coastal sand dunes and bluffs.
The Platte River
The Platte river is one of our favorite rivers for kayaking, canoeing, and tubing recreation in Northern Michigan.
Old Indian Trail
is one of our favorite trails for hiking. The trail leads out to the sandy bluffs and shores of Lake Michigan.
SS City of Milwaukee, a National Landmark. The steamship is the last traditional Great Lakes railroad car ferry. The 77 year-old vessel is permanently moored and open to the public in Manistee.
Crystal Lake is Michigan’s 9th largest inland lake at 9,854 acres, Crystal Lake got it’s name name from the exceptionally crystal clear water. Crystal Lake is utilized by tourist and locals alike for all sorts of water related recreational activities. It is adjacent to the southern reaches of the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, Frankfort, and Beulah.
Cherry Hut is known far and wide for their cherry pies, a Northern Michigan specialty.
Cherry Bowl Drive In Movie Theater Drive-in, slip back to the 50's and enjoy some good old fashioned family fun.
Crystal Mountain is known as this area's premier ski resort. They have 45 slopes, a half-pipe for snowboarders, and over 40 kilometers of Northern Michigan cross-country ski trails.
Leelanau Peninsula Wine Trail features 17 local wineries and tasting rooms. They are spread throughout one of the area's most speculacular stretches of land, the Leelanau Peninsula.
Trick Dog Gallery and Cafe features the artwork of artist Greg Jaris. His paintings, prints, sculptures and furniture are created with his distinctive style and depict the lifestyle of the region.
